El proyecto contempla el acondicionamiento de la Cuesta de Moyano de Madrid para la implantación del Festival del Corral de Comedias. Entre sombras y telones es como se desarrolla toda esta actividad, en donde los usos se mezclan, y las construcciones se organizan conformando multi-plataformas que permiten un programa complementario afín al programa principal del festival; el teatro de comedias.

The Project considers the treatment of the Cuesta de Moyano of Madrid for the installation of the Festival of the Corral de Comedias. Between shadows and curtains is how all these activities take place, in a space where uses are mixed and the constructions are organized forming multi-platforms that allow a complementary program linked with the main activity of the festival, the comedy theatre.

La parrilla:

Entre sombras y telones, en primer lugar proporciona un umbráculo que dota de una sombra a la calle para atenuar el calor del verano madrileño. La sombra que se crea pretende continuar la sombra que producen los árboles de la calle. Para ello se crea un entramado de pilares y cerchas metálicas que se cubre con redes de camuflaje consiguiendo una sombra artificial de características muy similares a la natural. Un código de colores de estas redes, permite la identificación y localización de zonas programáticas dentro de la calle (azul= teatro, marrón= artesanía, rojo= gastronomía).

Además de sombra, sobre esta parrilla pende toda la tramoya de la calle que va a permitir el acondicionamiento de las distintas funciones que tienen lugar en el festival:

– Focos para iluminación general en zona de compras y gastronomía
– Luces especiales para escenarios más específicos
– Proyectores para trasladar a la calle alguna de las representaciones teatrales o proponer cine al aire libre
– Altavoces
– Telones para configurar pequeños escenarios o cerrar recintos para actividades específicas dentro de un programa establecido o más ocasional (talleres, catas, teatrillos, títeres, mimos…)
– Nebulizadores de agua para acondicionar áreas más estanciales como la terraza o el graderío
– Columpios y hamacas para configurar una zona más lúdica y de recreo

The grid:

On the one hand, shadows and curtains create a shaded structure in the street to minimize the heat of the summer of Madrid. This shadow tries to continue the shadow of natural urban trees. To do this, a grid of pillars and metal trusses, covered with camouflage nets, is created achieving an artificial shade of characteristics very similar to the natural ones. A color code allows people to identify and locate the different areas in the street (blue=theatre, brown=crafts, red=gastronomy).

On the other hand, the grid is the base for the theatre elevators which prepare the street for the different activities during the festival:

– Lighting for shopping and gastronomy areas
– Special lights for more specific scenes
– Projectors to view from the street some functions of the festival or to do outdoor cinema
– Speakers
– Curtains to make small stages or close spaces to do parallel activities (workshops, tastings, small staging, puppets, mimes…)
– Nebulizers to refresh terraces
– Swings and hammocks to generate a play area…

Los decorados:

Acondicionada la calle, bajo esta parrilla se dispone el conjunto de casetas modulares, destinadas tanto a gastronomía como artesanía. Estas casetas se van colocando configurando ámbitos más o menos recogidos, más o menos abiertos a la calle, o con posibilidad de ello gracias a los telones que se suspenden de la parrilla.

Con esta disposición se pretende crear un espacio fluido con múltiples escenarios en donde se posibiliten acciones simultáneas destinadas al ocio y la cultura, con actividades vinculadas a las funciones o al programa del festival. Pretendemos evitar una configuración lineal de casetas que generen una trasera poco apetecible para el tránsito, de manera que cualquiera que se adentre en la Cuesta de Moyano participe de un modo u otro de la actividad.

Esta disposición de casetas, junto con el sistema de telones y toda la tramoya que sustenta la parrilla posibilita la creación de distintos decorados para ambientar el festival.

Sets:

Once the streets are prepared, several stands for crafts and gastronomy are placed under the grid. These stands configure areas more or less big and more or less open to the street or with this possibility thanks to the hanging curtains of the grid.

In this way, a street with multi-platforms is created, where several activities, linked with the program of the festival, can take place at the same time. We pretend to avoid a linear configuration of stands that generate an unattractive rear for transit so that anyone who walks for the Cuesta de Moyano can participate in the activities of the festival.

The location of stands, the curtain system and the rest of the tools of the grid, make possible the configuration of different sets to background the festival.

El utillaje:

Entre sombras y telones se crea con distintos materiales que se han tomado de otros ambientes y se han adaptado al programa del festival, tratando de que nada sea creado de forma específica para éste evento, y pudiendo recuperarlos todos tras su finalización.

Además de las casetas y del sistema de andamios empleado para la configuración de la parrilla, el teatro, la escalinata situada junto a él y pequeñas plataformas, se han empleado otros materiales como:

– Lonas configurando telones
– Sacos de obras como improvisados techos suspendidos o pufs, que luego servirán para el desmantelamiento y transporte del material empleado
– Palets de madera organizando barras y mesas
– Neumáticos y sogas para la confección de columpios y hamacas de la zona lúdica
– Alfombras de caucho o césped artificial que servirán para reponer parques de la ciudad
– Redes de camuflaje alquiladas o compradas para su posterior comercialización en el mercado de segunda mano.

Tools:

Between shadows and curtains is made with different materials that are typically used in other contexts and now are reconverted for the program of the festival, trying to avoid producing anything specifically for it; everything can be reused.

In addition to stands, the system of scaffolds to create the grid, the theatre, the staircase next to it, and small scenes, other materials used are:

– Canvas curtains
– Bags builders waste like suspended ceilings or puffs, that will be used after to transport the material used
– Pallets of wood like tables
– Tyres and ropes like make swings and hammocks
– Rubber carpet and artificial grass will be reused to remove playground areas of the city
– Camouflage networks rented or bought that will reuse for its sale in the second-hand market.
